Backup Software

We usually have three to four HD projects concurrently going on three FCP systems totaling about 6TB's. We rent a DVCProHD or HDCam deck for I/O so we back up and keep the data to inexpensive 1TB FW800 drives.

Is there software available to automate [as much as practicable] backing up data at the folder level that will continually back up only whats changed?

I have SuperDuper which is great for cloning a boot disk but doesn't help manage data at the folder level. I was also holding out hope that FCP server might alleviate this problem but it doesn't appear to be available [and I'm not sure I want to be the first on the block to try it].

So any advice would be great appreciated.

I have used Superduper, Retrospect, Backup (by Prosoft), Chronosync and something else I can't think of. I settled down to Superduper and Chronosync. Backup, was OK but the version upgrade cost more than Chronosync and I always felt like I was beta testing with Backup (not the warm fuzzy secure feeling you wand from backup software). Retrospect has a lot of pluses like it can be run remotely over a network so you can have a backup station that will backup everyone at night over the network and then shut down. That version however is pricey and the backups are in a proprietary format that only Retrospect can read.
Chronosync does what your looking for, writes to a Mac readable drive and is very affordable.

Thanks for the link.

I read the manual and like their approach for managing backups. I'm going to give this a try.

Thanks again.
