Backup audio in the field

I have been looking at these 2 for back up audio while filming (Don't want to trust those audio guys who fail to run test)

What are you trying to record? That is a stereo mic. You seem to be comparing a recorder and firewire interface. You need a lot more if you are trying to record dialog. Need more info to know what you are trying to accomplish.

Back up what? Test what? Your "equipment list" doesn't make any sense. So with out insulting "audio guys" further (not an overall great choice in the audio forum) can you explain what you are trying to accomplish.
