In a few scenes, I have some unwanted background noise, (like a member of the crew snickering during a funny scene). What's the easiest way to get rid of a minor sound?
Thanks!
greg121 offered the easiest and best solution to this problem. I'd like to add that this is the very reason, at every location you shoot, you tell everyone to be quiet for 30-60 seconds and just record the silence. Also known as 'room tone'.
The "s" key on your keyboard will split stuff where the playhead is.
for audio work, pay attention to quantize to frames. you may want that off.
basically you want to split twice, to take out the offending sound. Vegas, be default, will have automatic crossfades to avoid a click at the edit points.
In the "hole", you want to put in room tone. You can have the room tone on another track. Just have room tone sound fill in the "hole".
2- If sounds overlaps, then the trick above won't work. The easiest way to do things is to get good sound in the first place (although in extenuating circumstances this isn't possible).
Glenn - Much thanks. Originally, I did split, but got the click when I pieced the frames back together. I didn't add ambiance on another track, which is what I will try. Much, much thanks. I appreciate it. I'll also take your advice, John. Thank you.
