Back from Vegas

I'm back from the Modern Drunkard convention in Las Vegas, and my liver is filming a human rights appeal at the U.N.

No, not really. I hardly drank the whole time because it was a grueling shoot.

Very quickly, it was about what you would expect, only more so. We filled about 20 tapes with content. I have no idea how this drunkumentary will turn out.

Two points of interest to DVXUSER types:

We showed the Swanks video, shot with DVX100, what the hell. It looked GREAT on the big screen. I got compliments from all kinds of people, including videophiles. My best compliment was from a video production guy who asked if it had been shot on film or with an HD camera, 'because you just dont get that rich depth from miniDV.' He bought me a drink when he found out it was the Precious. :P

The other thing is that the damn camera is a MAGNET. I walked up and down the vegas strip at night, getting b-roll of the lights, and I stopped more traffic and got more smiles and attention than Pam Anderson.

Well, maybe that was a bit of an exageration, but it is simply amazing how many people stopped and stared while I'm toting around the camera, attached to a monopod.
