please :embarasse  :undecided ... help me find this movie... and please bear with my description from what is left in my memory.

it looks like an independent movie probably based in New Jersey about a guy obssesed with his film camera (not photography!)

about five years ago i came across this realy abstract movie shot in black & white. it looked old like from the 60's or 70's but it didnt at the same time.
he was this guy obsessed with his camera and he was allways on the streets taking footage of people in his area like new jersey neibourhood. it had a hint of film noir flavour probably because of its combination of b&w and men with cloaks and hats that resemble that.
he would never let go of the camera, and when his girlfriend would come to his appartment he would film her too but she would get angry and tell him to let go of the camera.
there were seens were he had (i think or as i remember) the (POV) camera attached to ontop of his head with a helmet if i recall correctly.
it was very dreamlike and he was talking over the movie like a doco (if i recall correctly)

i cant get this movie out of my head and i dont want to eihter, im afraid i will even forget what was described.

a couple of days ago, beleive it or not, i dreamed of watching the movie and i saw the credits, but i forgot all when i woke up. :undecided

whoever made this movie has touched the essence of my soul.
i need to see it again and with the hope of what i have described here maybe someone might might know which movie i am talking about.

That's gotta be PI

http://imdb.com/title/tt0138704/

(Not sure about 'camera' thing though) :undecided

I think you're onto something Sandwich:

I just saw PI last night... only caught the end of it, but - dayummm - that electric drill is nasty

got that on dvd, its definately not pi.. its almost got that b&w flavour to it though.

just checked out peckar.. no its not that either.

the guy in the movie is not taking pictures, his filming with like a 16mm portable film movie camera, and there are no well known actors like christina ricci, and its very somber floaty like subdued and quite movie like a dream almost.

That sounds exactly like "David Holzman's Diary" which is from the late 60s (I think). It pretends to be documentary, but is fiction.

man, i didnt realise how hard it is to get this movie here in australia.
i mean you cant even get here, the movie is'nt availble in the pal format, only region1 ntsc!
hence cant find any that could order it.

my video has a setting for color options "auto" & "pal"? i wonder if that means multiregion?

anyhoo, all this is trivial now that i know the title.

thanks again to the dvx community

Happy to help!

You might want to check out another movie from two or three years ago called "CQ" Should be easy to find.

It has several parts that are heavily inspired by "David Holzman's Diary", and is a good movie in it's own right.

"CQ", inspired by "David Holzman's Diary"? thanks vistavizion, that will be the first thing i'll check before i see the movie of the man himself.., still looking to see if any of the alternative places might have a pal version.

take care vistavizion, :cheesy:
