Has anyone ever had any problems with either of these two? Or heard any stories about them? Reputable?
 
Both are good except J@R has this shitty return policy. I got a firewire800 CF reader for our RED and it just stopped working after a few days. I took it back and instead of them just handing over a new one they made me go over to the other building and wait in line to get a pink paper. Then I had to take it to another window right next to that one to give the pink paper back to them and get a gift card. Then I had to go back to the other building and re-buy the damn reader again with the gift card. WTF! What a waste of manpower, paper and my time.
 
Both are good. If you are going to visit the actual store, you better know what you want before walking into B&H as there is not much opportunity to touch and feel your purchase. And don't go there on a Sunday as it's usually packed with shoppers. I rarely visit the store anymore unless I absolutely need to see something I know they have on display, like a light stand. Their online service is excellent; purchases seem to arrive overnight.
 
B and H is the WalMart of Video. I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way. Great prices and fast shipping. Service can be hit and miss, and it's somewhat less than personal. I doubt they would have sent me 2 free T-shirts with my Rode blimp like Guy from DVe store did when he heard my wife swipes mine. I like to support the people that support us, like Guy, Micover, and Spec Comm.

I haven't been to J and R for almost 20 years.
 
you just have to have connections in b&H.....

The video department knows me as "sensei" ( i didnt make that up... i walked in there one day with a fully loaded HVX adapter package on my shoulder) and they all were drooling, since then ive had great service in there.... haha...
