To anyone who's been waiting for it, just so you know: I saw it in stock on B&H's website and have just placed an order for it... end of my wait!!
Actually I saw this baby in person in B&H's NY superstore a couple of days ago. It's about the same size of the cheaper 1-ch mixers from SD. But the salesperson checked the inventory and told me it had been out of stock again by then...
Unlike the old MixPre, this baby will open up tons of recording options. I personally believe it'll conveniently turn any digital device with an audio in port for CD (or higher) quality recording into a decent (voice) recorder. For example, record voice from NTG-3 -> this mixer -> iPhone/iPod. Even better: by the B&H salesperson I talked to, given enough time, there should be an adapter that can have an iPhone/iPod receive audio signal via the MixPre-D's USB port... No need to carry around a consumer-grade recorder like H4n just for a few lines of dialogue. How wonderful!
