Azden?

I'm looking into an AZDEN SGM1x mic and mounting it on a fish pole. I'm low on money and this seems to be the most cost effective XRL input mic availible around town, and the shockmount is a nice bonus. Good idea to go with the azden?

You will find mixed opinion on the Azden line of mics if you search the forum. The general feeling is that for the money it is a decent microphone. Personally I would recommend going ahead and saving up for a few more weeks and investing in a better microphone. Everyone here knows my opinion on the ME66 and I think that is a better mic than the Azden. It just doesn't have the greatest sound replication.

I think for the money you would spend on that mic you would do far better to invest in the Audio Technica 835b or 897. They are more expensive, but remember that audio is more than 50% of the overall experience.
