has anyone done an A/B test with Azden vs. pro shotgun mics?
any opinions on Azden mics? crap? medium quality? good for indoor speech but not much else? etc...
thanks in advance

I have been using an Azden shotgun for about six months, and am very pleased with how it has performed. To be completely honest, it was not my first choice for a shotgun, but it was given to me as a gift, so I figured I would give it a go. Since then I have shot three short films and several small projects with it, and it has performed beyond my expectations.

I had been saving up for a more expensive mic, but now I've decided to stick with the Azden for the time being and invest in a newer field mixer instead.

First of all, I wouldn't use a shotgun indoors ever, unless it was a sound stage environmnet.

Next, I wouldn't use an Azden. There are mics that for just a couple of dollars more will deliver a lot more. Azden just doesn't sound clean to my ears.
