Azden 330LT?

How is the Azden 330 series? Does it really produce alot of noise when monitoring a silent environment?

How reliable is it? It's going to be used for ENG and events.

Or should I just completely ignore it and purchase the Sennheiers G3's and live with a single channel system?

Azden is, in general, crap. If you need a dual-channel system, go for Lectrosonics. Otherwise, Sennheiser.

Get the G3 then as they will hold their value should you ever need to sell them, get the ENG kit and then with the addition of a hand held Omni mic it will cover most eventualities.

Yeah that's the backup plan if the Azdens are really that bad.

We are already going with the MD46 in the first place and the ENG Kit just so happens to be an option.

Could I combine two G3's into one channel using a splitter?

EDIT: Is there any direct comparison of the audio quality of the Azden and Sennheiser?

Yes, but setting the relative levels may be somewhat difficult.. especially on the fly.
Rolls make the MX42 four channel passive mixer that may be of interest. You would still need to monitor somewhere regardless.. Does the cam have a HP output?

The Azdens are ok for the price, not the best build quality, however I have a set I keep on hand for a backup. I otherwise use Sony, which are the best build quality of any UHF in that price range. Also can't go wrong with G3's. If Azden is the only set you can afford, go for it. Just remember to add the audio effect "Fill left" in your editing software. Otherwise it's thin sounding and only half the channel will be heard. I haven't had any noise issues with them, but then again, I rarely use them, and have them for back-up.
