If you get a chance to goto Avid's current roadshow, it's cool event. Basically, a short presentation on HD and Avid, then they have a bunch of editing stations set up you can play with and talk to reps. Plus lots of free food and an open bar. The event is very low key and the Avid reps are not trying to hard sell anything. I got a chance to play a little with their Sympony Nitris system--it's a $90K complete editing system that cuts HD like butter. Nice. They're completely focused on a comprehensive set of HD solutions that cover every HD format from HDV to HDCAM SR. It was definitely nice to see full support for DVCPRO HD in their Avid Express Pro HD software. It was a good chance to do some networking too.
