i'm gonna start edtiting by new freature length film and can't decide which one to go with...Avid Xpress pro or Sony Vegas 7. I am shooting HDV so which one do you think will do bettter with HDV and also is vegas powerful enough for feature-length?
Any more the major NLE's are all rather powerful and similiar in features (each has its pros and cons though) and it comes down to use what you know. I've used both a little and Vegas seems to be slightly more intuitive but that may have just been me. I'm a premiere user and use it because its what I learned to use many years ago.
Yup, I came from an audio editing background and Vegas was super intuitive for me. I picked it up in a couple of days, but it's so powerful that I am still learning new and better things that it can do. I have done long format/30sec spots and everything in-between. It can handle it.
I have limited experience with Avid (on a Media Composer Adrenaline system), but I will say it is a whole different experience. It didn't work for me, and it hindered my creative ability, but that will be different for everyone. I'm hopping back on a DS Nitris soon so I can tell you how that goes
