I have to choose between either Avid Express Pro or Premiere.
I need which progam would be better for PC editing with my DVX100A.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Patrick

Re: Avid Express VS Premiere

I would recommend searching the Avid forum and the Premier forum on this site and researching this a little.

Or you could just pick Avid. ;)

Re: Avid Express VS Premiere

How much $$$$ do you have?

Avid Xpress Pro 4.5 - Real-Time Professional Video Editing Software - $ 1,399.00
Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 - Professional Real-Time Audio and Video Editing - $ 649.95

Re: Avid Express VS Premiere

Does the avid system require any specific hardware support?

Re: Avid Express VS Premiere

I know, I should research this myself, but why such a price difference. These two choices are obviously not the same.

Re: Avid Express VS Premiere

From what I can tell, brand premium with Avid.

That's not all, though -- for a complete 24p workflow in Avid, you need Mojo, which is another $1600.

Some people think it's worth it, though.

Re: Avid Express VS Premiere

Premiere can do everything avid can do at a fraction of the cost. Premiere pro supports AE and other third party plugins. This makes Premiere a killer tool. I think Avid is overrated. ;D

Re: Avid Express VS Premiere

Avid comes from a long lineage of true professional usage.
Industry editors have edited on "avid machines" for most of the movies you've been watching for years.

Premiere comes from the Apple days, a very good setup indeed, but always viewed as a prosumer editing system.

Re: Avid Express VS Premiere

No disrespect Pookie but how it's viewed is less of a concern to me than what the final product it puts out looks like, and I've seen some pretty outstanding premiere work.

Re: Avid Express VS Premiere

I was actually just supplying the basic backgrounds of both products.

Both will output first class results, no question.

The "primary" difference is if you want to work in the "industry", some knowledge of Avid will get your foot in a little easier.

Re: Avid Express VS Premiere

I may have misunderstood your point...now I get what your saying, and yes I agree with that statement :)

Re: Avid Express VS Premiere

Yea, that's the trouble with forum discussions....trying to tell what answer belongs to which question :P
