AVI from digicam into fcp 16:9 sequence

Is there anything I need to do to an avi file to have it be the best, uncompressed quality? (It is from a digicam, so i know it will be super-pixellated when played back on tv, which is fine) And what is the easiest way to make the 4:3 avi files (black bars?)match the dvx footage shot in squeeze?

not sure about the digicam footage. What camera is that? I'd take the AVI footage into QT Pro and re-rez it at DV-NTSC 48 and see if that doesn't work for you.

It's the canon elph sd550, they're big files, and the res is pretty good dropped into the timeline as-is, I'll take your suggestion and export one of each and see if there's a difference. Thanks!
