AVI Files NO Audio

Hi,

I am pretty new in this forum and I was hoping somebody can help me with my problem. I am trying to import avi files in Vegas (any avi file) and the only thing I see is Video (no audio). I have Vegas 7.0d. It was running smoothly before but I uninstaled ACE megacodecs and there when my problem started. Any help would be really appreciated

I have reinstalled it so many times. Now I ended up unistalling it and installed K-Lite Mega pack. I can play every video file on my computer that is not my issue, my problem is that Vegas doesn't reckognize the codecs for some reason. I have tried uninstalling Vegas but still no results. I don't know what to do and please don't tell me to format my hard-drive because it is really a pain in ....

Well, I've tried researching "ACE Mega Codecs," and from what I could tell, it's not something I'd ever chance installing on my system. Seems like pirated stuff to me, and with so many places to download, who knows what else gets installed with it? Who knows what's happening to your registries?

I would recommend getting rid of it. And if you can't use Vegas properly with it installed, seems like a no-brainer to me.
 
thanks David. I shouldn't have installed ACE at the first place. Now the only option I have is to have a full format of the hard-drive and install everything all over again. What is the best video codec that I must have on my system after fresh install? How can I make VEGAS reckognize any type of video?
 
I reformated the hardrive. I isntalled K-Lite megapack because i thought was going to be better. Nothing worked. Most of my avi files I couldn't access in Vegas. I can play them in my computer but not within Vegas. I only get the video for most of them. What are the codecs that I have to install in my system so that I can be able to play any kind of video? I don't want to install anymore codec pack. They really suck and they can damage your computer so bad. Because of them I have to reformat my PC again.
