AVI & Adobe CS5 ??

I just got my brand new, custom built PC with Adobe Premier Pro CS5 installed.

I'm very excited about learning the new computer, and especially CS5. As a test and learning tool, I tried to edit some super-low quality AVI Video Clips, shot with a Nikon Coolpix. For some reason the program did not "see" the videos.

Are they just too low of quality for a program this sophisticated to handle them, or is there something I can do?

I have Adobe Photoshop wired, but it took me many years to do so. CS5 is a whole new ball game, and an entirely different thing, and I don't have the time to take classes, which aren't offered around here anyway.

So any help or advise would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks.

You probably don't have the correct codec installed. An .avi extension isn't a codec; it's just a wrapper. The video can be pretty much anything.

Did any software come with your camera?

No camera YET. Learning one thing at a time, since it's all new to me.
