Average length of an FX shot?

I've been trying to find the answer to this for a while, but is there any statistic on the average length of an FX shot? I guess there might be a difference between practical and CGI, but is there anyone who knows where I can find any stats on this?

My own guess is that it is around 5-7 seconds.

I doubt you can find hard numbers because it's really hard to decide what is or isn't a single VFX shot. And even harder when you mix in practical effects. And it varies a lot on the type of media too. Film vs TV vs Web vs Animation. Might be able to work out some numbers using http://www.cinemetrics.lv/ Their database on average shot length is very cool. And since everything is VFX shot these days, I'd bet the ASL of the whole film is pretty close to the VFX number.

It's really up to the editor. They cut it, and somewhere in the pipeline, someone decides "This needs to be an effect". Could be just a few frames to many minutes. I've had both extremes in my films.

Hi
I've been in the fx industry for 10 years.
A lot of my shots have fitted nicely in 500 frames. Some only 100 and some over 2000
when it's that long it definitely caused problems. ..and warranted special attention.
