AVCHD import from SD card to Mac Pro was working just fine last week. I could transfer in all the clips to my drive, see them, import them into the work. Now, here's my problem.

  • I import them just fine off the SD card and into a subfolder of the normal FCP Raw footage folder I created on a newer 1 TB drive. All the other clips from all the other raw footage shoots are there, each with it's own subdirecory, (i.e. Dec, Jan etc) and show up in the L&T window.
  • However, when I bring up the L&T window, and point the program to the new clips (call them FEB MISC) they don't come into the import. All the previously imported clips from other earlier imports that are in the G:Raw Footage folder are there, but the new ones don't get imported. No error message. It looks like they get imported but aren't. I even for some damn reason, have duplicates showing in the clip window...
  • In Finder I can see the clips just fine. They are on the drive, in the right place, no changes made to the directory structure, all is good. But the new stuff is just not showing up inside the L&T window.
  • What could cause something like this to happen?
  • Is this somehow a problem with naming conventions?
I have to say that this logging and transfer of AVCHD is the most antiquated method I've ever seen in a program. I keep becoming extremely frustrated with FCPs terrible interface.

Anyone run into a problem before with L&T not importing stuff that is on the drive, in the right place and right format, (other similar AVCHD comes in great)?

Thanks in advance...

Just to update this, as someone might search on this in the future. It appears that the problem might have been related to something going on with the machine, as I put it in 'sleep'mode quite a bit, and also had my external drive set to turn itself off after xx minutes. I've turned off drive sleep mode, and also not allowed my machine to go into sleep either, while working on a project. I'm simply shutting down at the end of the day, rather than sleeping the box. The thing that seemed to solve this and a few other odd problems I've been having with FCP. It has worked fine for the last week (since the last post).
