AVCHD Convert to MP4 in camera. Does it reduce quality?

[offbeatbryce]

Hello,

I just discovered my Canon XA25 camera can convert AVCHD to MP4 directly in the cameras menus. It converts it from one SD card to the other. Does anyone know if the quality is reduced when it does this? I prefer MP4 as I can rename the clips in Windows Explorer and add tags etc which AVCHD can not.

If it's just re-wraping the file there won't be any quality loss.
