avchd conversion

Hey, i'm sorry if this has been asked before, but i haven't managed to find the answer i'm looking for so far. if already could you please just link me.

Is there a way i can convert my avchd files into a format that is workable with after effects, without to much compression or loss of detail. Because i am currently having to import into premiere pro and the export out. Which seems to be making the video darker?

Also, i want to convert the footage to 23.976 frames per a second, i have the gh1 and am filming at 720p 59.94 frames a second at the moment, and with a 1/60 shutter speed, how would i go about doing this, or would it look terrible?

should i just hack with ipowells native 24p, is that one reliable?

There are two ways that I do what you are looking to do.. 1) I use Final Cut Pro to 'log and transfer' the clip to ProRes. or 2) if I need to convert a batch of clips I use Episode Pro 6 to batch make ProRes files..

Thanks for your suggestions, unfortunately i have a windows computer, do you know of any other programs for windows that have a similar function as Episode Pro 6?
