First time working with AVCHD clips. I'm coming from tape to avchd, and FCP to Premiere Pro. I'm using a year-old MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8gb of memory (1067 MHz DDR3).
I went around testing cams, including GH2, recording to card. They played fine in PP. Then I bought GH2. All the clips from it play choppy with like diagonal noise rain and blocks of pixels flipping around. They play fine when rendered. They play fine in FCP transcoded to ProRes but who wants those humongous files. Then again who wants to watch noise rain and pixelation or wait minutes to render everything before viewing/editing.
The odd thing is the test clips still play fine. Is it the camera? OR Any idea how to make clips run smooth or why they don't?
