AVCHD and Cineform

Hey all. Just wanted to get your thoughts on Cineform and see how many using it, happy/disappointed, etc. I'm looking for the easiest way to edit my AVCHD footage and since my computer isn't the most powerful, anything helps.

I'm patiently awaiting the delivery of my Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack tomorrow but I've been playing with the demo and see serious lag time when I try to play footage on the timeline. I guess Cineform Neoscene is what I would need?

Cineform works fine with Platinum 8/9 and Vegas Pro 8, but I am having red/black frames on Vegas Pro 9. Other than that, it's perfect for me.

Thanks Eugenia. My camera came with Edius Neo 2 which worked fine until I upgraded to Windows 7 (which is why I bought Vegas).

I found a way to use the AVCHD Transcoder that's part of Edius to output the files to avis so that I edit on Vegas.

I dont konw anything better than prospect any suggestions?

Better is subjective. For me, DnxhD is better because it's free. For others, JPeg2k may be better because it's lossless unlike Cineform. Still others may prefer Lagarith because it's lossless AND multithreaded.

Really depends on your needs.

What does one use to convert AVCHD to DnxhD for use in Vegas Editing?

That caught my attention in a search as some on the vegas boards swear by that Avid Codec.
