AVC-INTRA not rendering???

Maybe I'm doing something dumb here but when I try to render AVC-I nothing is being rendered... That is Premiere CS5 takes the time to render but I can see no output file.

Do I need to install the codec? What am I missing here?

Thanks!

Keep in mind AVC-Intra will be rendered into the P2 MXF folder structure rather than a single file, so look for a "Contents" folder where you select to save.

Ah! thank you! So there seems to be 4 video files (2 large ones and 2 small) from my single render. I'm not familiar with P2 camcorders.

I am working in AVCHD in Premiere and would like to render out an intra compressed file to make work easier in After Effects. (I would really like to render out Quicktime JPEG 2000 but don't see that as an option in CS5) What is the best way to do this? I thought AVC-I would work but AE seems to be having issues with that codec...???

Jpeg 2000 should be available if you select Quicktime and then go to the settings for Quicktime...if for some reason it's not there, then it may be an issue with Quicktime. You can also download Avid's DNxHD codec for Quicktime, which is basically Avid's version of ProRes...that might be an even better option.

I transcode to DNxHD as well...it's much easier to manage the media, as the entire clip is a single .mov file, whereas with AVC-Intra you get a ridiculous directory structure with meaningless filenames -- you have no idea what's what until you import it into your NLE.

Your best bet is to select the clips in question, right click and "Replace with After Effects Composition".

No rendering required.
