It's not anything new (meaning talent wearing special gear when applicable during the filmmaking process and performing).
At first I thought they might be acting by themselves and doing different takes and then being plugged into the scene(s), but towards the end of the interview it's revealed they act together as much as possible, so it's just like regular acting but in a studio, which is how a large percentage of Marvel movies are made (and others).
In a way, it's almost easier because they have so much control over the image vs. raw filmmaking.
