Automating Transitions In Prem Pro 1.5

Hi friends,

Supposing I have a timeline in Adobe PRemiere Pro 1.5 where all my clips are already edited. The total length of the timeline & clips is 1 hour. In this timeline, there are many separate video clips arranged back to back with each other. I want to add a "cross dissolve" transition to all the edited clips at once. Is this possible? In the past I have to manually drag & drop a "cross dissolve" transition one by one to each video clip that has a break in it on the Timeline. This is very tedious & time-consuming. Is there a shortcut in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 to automate inserting transitions all at once at the click of a button? Thank you.

Not really automating but ctrl+D will insert your default transition if your CTI is near the cut. Page up and Page down will pop the CTI to the next transition in both direction. I do alot of starting at the beginning and page down and ctrl d my way through the timeline.

I think you can right click on any transition to set it as "default" and the default transition length is in edit->preferences

let me know if that isnt what you were talking about.

I dont know if this will apply to you, but if you select mutiple clips in your bins in your project window, you can go to project settings to automate to sequence. A box will pop up that will have several options, including selecting the defalt transition to go between clips.

Thank you all for your helpful tips. What I mean by automating the transitions is that my edited video clips are already in the Timeline, not in the Bins in the Explorer window. So I need to know how to automate inserting transitions into the clips already on the timeline without having to drag & drop each individual transition to each individual videoclip on the timeline. jdajda, I'll try your CTRL+D method & see if this is faster than manually dragging & dropping transitions. THanks again. Appreciate your comments.
