Automatically split video at edits?

Hey all,

Does anyone know if there's a way (software, or otherwise) to automatically find and split a video at its edit points? Does that even make sense? I have a fairly lengthy video that needs to be re-edited, and I don't have the time to go through and manually cut it up at all of the edits.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

It makes perfect sense. DaVinci Resolve can do this for you - you can download Resolve Lite (which is free). It includes this functionality. Works actually quite nicely. If it makes a mistake you can easily correct it manually while reviewing the results.

There are probably quite few NLE's that do scene detection on import or capture. I know that Grass Valley's Edius Pro 7 does on capture of new footage.

I know that Premiere does it on capture, but this footage has already been edited. I wonder though, with the new enhancements just announced for Premiere, if it will get SpeedGrade's auto scene detect feature? That would be awesome.

Just wondering what you are going to do once you have it broken out in clip form ( no matter which way you do that)?

eg. are you going to log all the clips?

Maybe Sub clips using the original as Source Master Clip will be far quicker and more efficient in the end.

Is it a total re-edit or a few scenes here and there?
