autofocus vs manual focus lenses

hi

can someone please tell me what the difference is for me when using my adaptor if i get a nikkor autofocus lens or not?

thanks

Well, the autofocus feature won't work with the adapter. So in all likelihood, the difference will probably be that the lenses are 1) more expensive and 2) not as fast (light-sensitive). It's not a big deal if you already have some AF lenses, but if you're buying stuff just for your adapter, there's no need to spend extra unless you want to use it with a DSLR or something.

Also, avoid DX series lenses, they will not work as well with the adapter setup because they capture a smaller image, forcing you to zoom in further and lose more light among other things. Make sure the lenses have good manual focus rings (not cheap plastic ones) and manual aperture rings (otherwise you will not be able to change your stop, and they will probably default to being closed down to f/22 or whatever).

I have an AF zoom that I use with my adapter and really the only issue with AF lenses as opposed to manual focus lenses is they have a much shorter focus throw.

I would also like to add that the short focus throw of AF lenses can be a pain trying to put focus in fast paced scenes. I speak from experience.

comes down to the auto lens eg /canon your irus will be wide open and will not stop down, losing fine tuning. will still work. most lens at wide open are not as clear wide open .
