Autofocus noise on built-in mic: normal?

Hello,

The first time I used a DVX100B, I consistently used an external shotgun, which worked well.

Now that I have my own, and I'm waiting to get my shotgun, I'm doing a few different things for audio capture. On my current project, I'm using a separate recording device, which I'll sync up later.

But now I've noticed that the autofocus on this camera is sufficiently loud as to be heard on tape when the built-in mic is activated.

In one sense, this isn't going to be a problem, since I anticipate using the on-board mic rarely, if ever. But I just wonder if this is 'normal'?

Thanks!

Focus, zoom, tape mechanism... lots of tzhings on the camera make audible noise. That's why we use external mics!
