Auto-script Creation Software

I write 2 scripts daily, always about the same thing unfortunately. The scripts happen to be voiceovers for real estate video tours (much like a virtual tour you would see when house hunting, but in video form). These videos are usually 5 minutes in length and are custom written, depending on what is inside the home (cherry wood cabinetry or maple cabinetry, granite tile countertops or slate marble countertops).

What I am looking for is scriptwriting software that will help me to automatically create or insert common phrases that I use from video to video, by just punching in the unique characteristic of the house. I guess you could compare it to the "Mad Libs" of screen writing.

Does such a program or website application exist for something like this? Anything comparable? I write all of my scripts in Word, so I'm not sure of the functionality of Final Draft or similar programs.

Thanks!

That's a really cool idea. I'm about to embark on a corporate video project almost exactly like what you are describing, but instead of houses we are doing virtual tours of assisted living communities (12 in all across 7 states). They're going to want voiceover work as well, but I think they're going to write the scripts to our edited footage. It's not entirely clear yet, the details, but a program like what you're describing would be nifty. I can't say I've heard of that...

I have Final Draft but haven't used it much so far.

Look for a program called RoboType. I think it will do what you want, if you can find it. It used to be freeware.

If you use MS Word, then look into using the 'Autotext' feature.

Good luck!

Hmmm- that's an interesting idea with Robotype, but not exactly what I was going for. I guess I could use a program like Robotype to contain phrases like "marble slate countertops" or "Spanish-style floor tiles" so that I could quickly input them into my script. (BTW, a Mac alternative to this is Typinator)

I was more interested in making a script by selecting a bunch of different "features" with check-marks and having the program generate a script for me.

-OR-

Filling in pre-made script outlines with the specific amenities.

-OR-

Selecting pre-made sentences and having "connectors" automatically generated. ie: selecting the sentence "This kitchen has granite slate counters" and the sentence "makes cleanup a breeze", would form the final output of "This kitchen has granite slate counters, which makes cleanup a breeze."

Thanks for the suggestion though! I think I could come close to that last idea of mine using RoboType..... I think I may be over my head searching for a different way.

I doubt that there is going to be a program that does exactly what you are looking for. It's too specific, and the "robotic" nature of the program wouldn't work for most practical applications. I think the closest you would find would be some automatic-contract writing software, but I don't know if anything like that exists.

You could design a program like that in Visual Basic pretty easily, or you could pay someone to design one.

Do you all ready use a basic template and cut-and-paste stuff into it?
