Audix sound quality?

Okay, I got turned onto the AKG line via my "Best Shotgun for the money" thread, by MattinSTL and others. I'm in a pinch & need a good mic by this weekend. I went into a local authorized dealer for AKG, and they don't carry it in stock, nor does anyone there have any hands on experience.

They were actually blown away when I said I had $500-600 to spend on a mic, as they're used to the cheap consumer requests. He then turned me onto the Audix CX112, and talked it up as all the rave, and incredible sound, yadda yadda yadda.

Here's a link to the specs on the mic, which he said they'll sell me for $400: http://www.audixusa.com/Acrobat/CX112_spec_sheet.pdf

Ever heard of this company? How do they compare with AKG? Sorry for the my whole "noobness" with audio, but thanks for your thoughts in advance ... I SWEAR, I am learning through all this! :)

The guy also said for interior, EVERYONE should have an AT414, though they don't carry it, so I at least know he wasn't bs'ing me for a sales opportunity on it.

Nevermind ... he meant to say everyone should have a AKG 414 ... checking it out now, looks to have switchable patterns, etc. Anyone use that mic before for indoor? I'll have to buy another shotgun for my outdoor use.

these mikes are for studio application only , they are not suitable for normal boom work
and yes audix doing nice condenser mikes.
if you interested in audix Marty Atias did check few of them for field work
