The Audix is SCX1-HC is a great dialog mic (very close in quality/character to the Schoeps CMC641 (have used both to record stereo: match well)). Just noticed super low price on Amazon ($399): https://www.amazon.com/Audix-SCX1hc-SCX1-HC-Microphone/dp/B002XOJMAA/ (got mine for $499 on Amazon in 2016).

Normally $499: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/242661-REG/Audix_SCX1_HC_SCX1_HC_Microphone.html

There's only one other company selling at that price, so doesn't look like a brand-level sale. It's Prime, so any issues = easy return (good to have for 'too good to be true deals').

I just picked up this Audix mic for US$250 on eBay secondhand! :-D

Currently using an AKG mic:

Will be interesting to hear the comparison between them.

Nice!

Where'd you mount the mic for that video?

From memory, it was an Oktava on a boom just above me, running into a Sound Devices 552 that I then had a snake running into my Sony PMW-F3 (and I used the camera audio, because I'm supremely lazy when it comes to doing my vlog).

But as you can tell, the space I'm in sounds horrible, I was just doing what is most convenient, using the floor lobby after hours directly outside my office door.

Well, I'm not happy with it, but I'm not going to redo the video! I think all (or nearly all) of my YouTube videos are one take videos.
