Who pays their actors, if so how much? My second question is, when you audition do you know your shooting schedule ahead of time?

1. I don't always pay my actor's, it depends on the circumstances... for personal short films I usually don't... on a company short with a budget, I usually do, on a feature I do deffered payment.

2. I usually know a ballpark time when I'll be shooting, just so I can mention it to the people I like initially and feel out if they'll be busy or not.

Also, what's going on with your film Evan? I remember you have a thread in User Films, did you ever finish that?

My film didn't get off the ground. It was about to but all the actors fell through. One could only do weekends. The other only could do weekdays, and the last but not least could only do days, but all of his scenes were at night. I was going to shoot around everyone but the two main characters scenes were about 70% together and it's turns out they worked opposite shifts. So I got screwed. However, that project is sitting back on my proverbial shelf of scripts and I've moved on to something easier/shorter and has less actors!

When we audition people for acting parts, I always have an idea of when we are shooting and what time of day it will be or if it will be nights. i tell them up front about it and that they will have to commit to 12 hours. I never expect to keep anyone that long and schedule accordingly, but it "roots" out the people right away and no heartbreak later.

1. If you r producing movie then you have to pay acording to the budget u have or if u r lucky , you can get actors for free...
2. While audition if u get right person u have to let them know when u r planing to shoot and time u gonna take to shoot them..

i pay sag minimum under the ultra low budget agreement: $114/day.

during auditions, i know what month i'm shooting in so i ask if they have any conflicts.
