Audio Winding Down

Is there a way to do this in Vegas? Like the sound you'd get if you turned off a turntable with the needle still on the record...the sounds just go s l o w e r and s l o w e r until it stops.

Or in SoundForge. I've got both. :)

Add a pitch-bend plugin, and automate it -- I think both Vegas and SF will do this. I know for sure SF does this because I've done it before.

Automating the time-compression plugin is also fun -- instant Autechre.

Don't have a pitch bend plugin. Have a Sony pitch shift plugin that doesn't support automation, and a VST plugin which doesn't shift enough to bother with. :(

ditto on the pitch-bend.

a how to: in sound forge (7, maybe others)

to change pitch:
click effects>pitch>bend.

slide the little orange lines to go from the middle of the graph at the start of the clip to the bottom of the graph at the end of the sound clip.

to change tempo:
click effects>vibrato
slide the dots on the graph to go from the middle of the graph at the start to the bottom of the graph to the end of sound clip. (basically the same as above)

if you want to vary the speed at which the tempo/pitch change, change the graphs accordingly. have fun and dont be afraid to experiment.

The other thing you can do, is open a second copy of Vegas, and record from one to the other, using the speed control in real time, slowing it down, while recording in the second instance of Vegas, Sound Forge, Acid, or Windows Media Recorder.
