Audio when sliding/ff/rw, but not when playing

Hi, I've just finished capturing some footage in Premiere Pro 1.5. When I load a clip in the timeline, or if I'm just viewing it in the monitor, I get no audio when playing back, only when I use the slider.

Waveform is visible and I get good levels when I'm playing back, just I can' hear anything.

Obviously I can't edit by playing back my audio/video through manual slider use, so how can I solve this problem?

So, when I move the slider, I hear audio. When I hit spacebar and start playback, no audio, but levels are good.

Any ideas?

This has happened to me when using pp 1.5, but only when editing an existing project. Have you tried saving it as a project, then reopening it to see if it works properly then ? When I did this it was fine.

Among a ton of other problems... I frequently have this same problem with the audio...

I've learned that it's OK if I just close PPO and restart it.

I'm really starting to not like Adobe, originally thinking that the learning curve was steep, only to learn that it's simply not working correctly...it's usually some sort of bug that keeps beating me down.
This is a subject for another thread though...

Problem solved by disconnecting the camera. Also there's an option to choose where playback is coming from.

I've captured, why the heck would I want to get playback from my camera...

grr...

/ready to try another PC based editing program...

You'd want playback to camera so you can preview your video and audio on an external monitor, or so you can output your timeline back to tape. This can be switched on and off in the playback settings.
