Audio waveforms?

Im looking to emulate a visual 'audio waveform'. Ive looked up a lot of tutorials online but cant seem to find something that meets what im looking for. What i want to create is a line that starts at one end of the screen and as it moves across the screen, it moves up and down with the speakers voice.

Not real clear on what you want but try this. Start a project in AE with a background layer and a solid layer on top of that. Add an audio layer with just someone speaking. Using the pen tool draw a straight line across the solid layer. This will be Mask 1. Apply Audio Spectrum to the solid layer with the path being the mask and the audio layer as the source audio. Animate the position of the mask or layer to move it across the screen. If you choose display as analog lines this will look like an audio waveform. if you have some example of what you are looking for I could help you more.

How about the Audio Waveform effect under Generate?
