Since the changeover to V6, I can't seem to find this. Any suggestions on where to look?

Not to open up something that's already been discussed, but I'm looking for headphone suggestions. AKG, Sennhheiser, Sony?

Thanks,

-jay

I remember this discussion, too. I use the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro which I picked up at EVS for under $100. I'm really pleased with them.

Does anyone else use the 7509. The HN7506 looks nice as well for loud environments or if you are piloting a helicopter.

Thanks for the link to that.

It's a great thread and a valuable resource. I think it would be great to have a FAQ for each of the sections to handle recurring questions. (I.E.: How do you light a night scene, how do you do a car mount shot, etc...)

i started working on that top 5 lavs post, but its a nightmare, and im really busy lately. its also a lot harder than top 5 shotguns was to put together... really subjective.

A do recall a headphones post... its in here somewhere!

Ive used hd25, hd280pro,7506, and currently ultrasone hfi500. i like em all.

Timapter,

What lav's are you considering including? I have specs and lots of info on the B6 and the EMW from before I purchased them. I also can easily get the specs on the B3 (I have one of those, too.)

well, its a tough one - lets talk this out.

i think the b6 and emw HAVE to go in there. and prob sennheiser mke2. then possibly the audio technica at897 as, say, position 5 for very good performance for price, but not top of the line.

after that, im just not sure. thats 4 mics, and to be honest, they're the only four ive ever used.

what about the pin mic? what mics are amazing that ive missed?

putting the thread together isnt a problem, i just dont want to put out a view that isnt a general consensus here.

whoops, didnt mean at897. my bad, know what lav i mean? darnit, i even OWN one, just havent used it in a while... uh whats it called... at89 something. ill check it up,. not home right now. darn i feel stupid.. know when your mind just goes blank?

Timapter,

My recommendations (not ranked):

1. EMW
2. B6
3. COS11
4. MKE2
5. Tram 50

I think the EMW covers the low cost/good performance niche. As far as I can tell, this covers most of the standard mics used by the "pros". If I had to add one more, it would be the PinMic. That is a cool mic for a reasonable price. DPA's are also mentioned a lot as being the absolute best, but very expensive and very fragile for film work.

Just my .02.

Phil

dpa are nor more expencive then the sankens and they are not franglie to film work , i run couple of 4061 for few years whithout any problem
the problem is acters or people you record who pulling the mics head in the hurry -
the tram is one of the worst microphone i had ( still have a couple)
very bad housing which brakes apart , the capsule is suffering badly from rusle( sweat) and changes the sound very quickly , the cable is s.h.i.t
the only good thing they come with allot of accessories
