audio to tape good enough

Hello,
Is the audio recorded to tape on the dvx high enough quality for a film or should I invest in a separate recorder and if so which type. I would not want to spend over 1300

It is fine in most cases. What other kind of gear do you have? The $$$ could probably be better spent elsewhere. IMHO
