after searching around I found the AT835b to be a great buy. Ive heard a few good things but no luck while searching on here. How does it stack up against azden's comparable model and is it worth it to step up to the 815? how bout the 897?

Used for film and some videography but mostly making movies/short narratives. TV commercials as well. Looking for something under $250 and with good range/not too directional (like the 815 might be with such a long length).

Go for the AT897. I have used both and the 897 is a better mic for a similar price. If you can afford the 4073A go for that!!!
Although don't take my word for it...hear it for yourself...if you can.
Hope that helps,

Brian

I have the 835B. It's an insanely sensitive mic. It picks up sound like you would ont believe(which really sucks sometimes). It records great audio with the DVX though. I couldn't be happier with the quality.

I have the 835B and it works well for me with the DVX. Live music and independent film work. Haven't used the other mics you ask about, this one was recommended to me from my vendor based on my needs.
