Audio-Technica 700 series wireless mic, thoughts?

My brother and I are slowly getting a bit of gear together to start doing a bit of filming. We are aiming for the local TV station at the moment (who take viewer submitted content) as we watch it quite a bit, and after picking holes in the production quality and having a laugh at the amateur nature of some of the shows, we decided to put out money where our mouths were and see what we could come up with ourselves.

We have a HDR-FX1 camera with the usual gear, some soft boxes, a green screen as well as some redheads to be purchased after Christmas. Our audio gear consists of a Tascam audio recorder/mixer of some description, a Sony PCM-M10 for recording audio, and an Azden SGM 1X shotgun with various other accruments. We also have a few wired LAV's for the Sony, but as we are looking at shooting a bit of stuff on location (including overseas), we are looking at purchasing a wireless LAV for convenience.

We've looked at the Sennheiser G3, but my brother found the Audio-Technica 700 series UHF wireless mic and I am wondering if it's any good?

I know you get what you pay for, but we are on the usual tight budget etc etc (this is only a hobby at the moment). Is the Audio-Technica worth buying for a budget setup, or is the extra for the Sennheiser or similar worth the extra cost (taking into account the 'level' of our existing gear)?

This AT system, you mention is NOT a portable system and requires the receiver to be powered by mains, or a battery set up rigged for it.

Do yourself a favor and read the "under $500 dollar wireless sticky" it pretty much answers your question, and reflects most people's stance on this.

Good luck.
