Audio Synchronization Problem

I just shot a bunch of 6th graders playing marimbas and the sound does not sync with the video. I shot with a dvx100a set at 24ap. Captured with the Advanced Pull Down setting 23.98 with sequence settings to match. I hear the sound a fraction of a second before the video. I tried capturing and sequence settings at 29.97 with no pull down and problem remains. Any Ideas

Did you capture the video with timecode breaks? Everytime I have had an audio sync problem in FCP, it's because of timecode breaks. If not, I can't help.

If I did record with timecode breaks what would be the easy? solution. And what should I do in the future to avoid such a problem?

Me too... FCP hates timecode breaks!

If so, re-capture, avoiding the breaks.

Ditto. Make sure that you are have it set to abort capture on timecode breaks. Then just go section to section. It sucks if you have a lot of them.

Ok so it seems the problem is a difference between the Built-in Audio setting and the Firewire setting in the Audio Playback section of the Audio/Video Setting . When I view the clip with the Built-in Audio setting there is a time delay between the audio and video with the Firewire set everything is fine. I have deleted my preferences but still can’t figure it out.

Yes, you need audio and video to go to the same box (computer OR Firewire) if you want them in sync. You can set Audio to follow video or just make sure it's set to firewire as well.
