Audio static from MTS files off of Canon C100

Just picked up a Canon C100 (Mark 1), and when I import MTS files from my SD card to my timeline in Adobe Premiere, my audio is nothing but static. Video works fine. I have a hunch it's because I'm using Premiere CS4, and the MTS files from the C100 simply aren't supported by such an old version of Premiere. Can anyone confirm? Also, can anyone confirm that this issue does not occur in Premiere Pro CC? I was planning on upgrading in the near future regardless.

Audio playback is fine when playing back from the camera, btw.

I had static after importing SD card audio files from a field audio recorder. This happened when starting playback or when moving the cursor during playback, very loud, short duration. This was in Sony Vegas Pro and we found it was due to running off USB hard disks. When we moved the project to the C drive, no problem.

Probably unrelated to your problem
