audio slipping on output

Vegas 7 - Windows Vista - HD from HV20 - AVI Cineform codec high quality.

when I output a 3 minute piece, I have music that must move in time with the video. However, upon output with the compression I mention above, the music moves up 3-5 seconds by the end of the movie. I have about 10 music tracks, but only 2 playing at the time of this particular scene. (I'm exporting one scene from a longer movie).

unfortuantely this is the only high-quality codec/movie combination that works. So cineform will have to be it. Quicktime is giving me all sorts of problems on output so simply switching to it isn't an option.

Any ideas what's going wrong?

Download Vegas Pro 8 trial and see if you get the same bug. If not, then it's a bug on Vegas 7 or its codecs and there's not much you can do.

Hi Eugenia,

If this is a known bug, is there any information on when and where it usually happens? If it is known, it sounds like a pretty big bug (seeing as synching video with audio is a fairly basic necessity in video editing), so I'm surprised there's no fix. Or is it just something that happens in random versions of Vegas?

I don't know of any bug like that in any version of Vegas.

Can you post a screenshot of your video and audio render settings?
