Audio skipping

INTRODUCTION: ok... let me start by saying I’m new at this. I’m currently in Iraq (I’m US Air Force) and I’m trying to make a video for my unit... you know, with video clips from peoples digital cams and pictures and some music. I’ve been looking for an answer for my problem for a few days now and cant find one (that i understand)

ISSUE: the problem is that when I put an audio clip in the Timeline and render it, it skip’s! It sounds like a scratched CD. But if I play the original file it plays fine. Now... let me make something clear... this doesn’t happened with all audio files I put on there. The one I am specifically trying to get on there is 32000 hz 16 bit-mono. Please help.

MY PC: AMD Athlon 64 bit (3200+)
768 Mg RAM
Adobe Premiere 6.0
With 6.01 and 6.02(Bata) update. (I installed the 6.02 update because it said that it may fix the skipping problem)

Before you answer: keep in mind that I don’t know much about this stuff... so when you explain it, please try to keep it simple. I appreciate it.

Is it skipping at a part where there is a transition? A wipe or dissolve in the video?
Can you play the clip in the timeline without skipping? It's been a while since I messed with ver. 6. I'm using Pro1.5 now and I know you have the option of 32k or 48k audio. Don't remember about ver 6. If so, are you editing on a 48k timeline maybe?
Maybe try rendering out JUST the audio and see if you can bring it back into Premiere.

Let me know if that helped.
Stay SAFE.

I tried that, just playing the audio by its self, but no luck.
I also tried going to 'project' --> 'project settings' --> 'audio...' --> and I changed the rate from 48000 hz to 32000 hz, but that didn’t do anything either.

Just to add more confusion, what if I had 2 audio files that I wanted to put on the same video. one audio track is 32000 hz and the other is 48000 hz. is that passable?

In PremierPro - one gets "conformed" to match the other depending on whether or not you are in a 32k or 48k timeline.
Again, I'm not sure about older ver 6 methods.

Well… I fixed my problem after hours and hours and days of aggravating testing and trying and failing.

The fix was actually quit simple!
You see, I was using 2 audio files for my video. One audio file was at 44000 hz and the other was at 32000 hz. So just for the heck of it I used Adobe Audition to transform the audio files into 48000 hz files.

That fixed the problem… that did it!

Lessen Learned: make sure the audio files you’re using are the same frequency!

Thank you Sirius Doggy for trying to help.
