Just wandering what your audio setup for editing was.
For Me:
Alesis M1 Active Mk2 Active Monitors
Delta 1010 Soundcard
Edirol Ua5 Soundcard.
I Started editing videos and recording music at the same time and i still do both which is why i think its really good to spend money on getting an accurate sound.
I did have a 48 channel Behringer (MX8000) but when i moved away i had to leave it at my parents house due to lack of space at my new place. I miss it.
