audio scrub, can't decipher notes when scrubbing music

I had 6.5, just upgraded yesterday. I can't pinpoint specific musical notes or instruments like i did in 6.5. The majority of it is unintelligible and really blends together when scrubbing frame by frame. I do alot of action video editing so its picture and music which makes precision editing a necessity.

Is there a setting that i have to adjust or is this yet another good feature that premiere took away with the new software?

You should be able to magnify the timeline so that the waveform becomes clear. Try pressing the + key.

Yeah, that doesnt really help. I'm editing very specifically to a song, and i basically need this surfer landing an air during a cymbal crash in the song. for some reason the audio just kind of melts together in this editor, i found 6.5 much more clear sounding, strange.

Did you upgrade to 2.0? I'm not sure what you mean. The audio shouldn't "melt" together; the position on the timeline where the cymbal crash occurs should be the same on both versions. It should be a simple matter to magnify the timeline to the point where you can see it frame by frame, look at the waveform peak and then drag the video over so that it matches with the song. You don't have to be able to hear it as much as see the peak. If it's off by a few frames it won't matter.

Yeah, turns out it was the song i was using, I just upgraded my software and thought i was yet "another change" brought on by premiere. All good though, thanks
