Hey guys,
I've hunted around on Google and the forums and haven't found an answer to this. It's probably pretty basic (hence, the lack of obvious answers). I'm working with FCP 6 and Soundtrack Pro. If I'm using a lot of MP3s or external audio sources in my sequence, I get a lot of pops and crackles at random points in the audio, indicating that the audio needs a resample. However, this still happens after rendering the audio in FCP (rendered clips indicated by a blue-gray line).
I've sent the audio to Soundtrack Pro and resampled 48k there with complete success, but the result is a huge Soundtrack Pro file. This is especially problematic for long sequences of audio of which I only use a short amount -- for instance, I might use 30 seconds of a five minute song, but Soundtrack Pro resamples the entire five minutes and saves it raw. Usually I don't mind and I'll deal with Soundtrack Pro eating the space, but my latest project uses audio from 2 hour movies and 2-3 hour podcasts. Resampling the entire thing just seems overkill. Is there a way I can sample only the sections of audio that I need? Also, what's wrong with FCP that it isn't rendering my audio at the correct sample rate such that I still get pops and cracks? To note, render settings are at the highest quality, and the FCP manual doesn't seem to indicate that I can alter the audio render quality.
Would love some help.
