Audio Recorder/Interface Recommendation?

I need to record presentations and trying to find an economical solution. I will be able to come out of a mixer or a wireless receiver. I'm looking at buying an audio interface (e.g., M-Audio MobilePre USB, PreSonus Audiobox USB, Lexicon Alpha USB) and using that and my laptop to record. It's not the most portable solution with the laptop but this might be a good way of getting decent audio for later use in burning cds and posting to the internet.

The other idea I am considering is the Zoom H2. This would be my maximum price to spend ($200). It's more portable which is a plus since I need to transport it. I would use the line in (which is 1/8 in.), and that's my concern. How good of quality can I expect from that? As good as the above solution using an audio interface and computer? I don't think I'd want to use the built-in mics, as there is some noise from the audience that I want to keep at a minimum. In the future, however, the built-in mics might be useful.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I used a couple of Zoom H2's and an H4 on a movie shoot with very satisfactory results -- and that was even using the built-in mics. I think you'd do just fine with an H2 and an external mic.

Good luck!

i think mxl have in line and usb port inside plug which can take mic or line level + 48 ph supported
dont know how good it is but it small and quit cheap

The convenienbce factor of using something like the H2 vs. a laptop is pretty big! Line in from a mixer should yield reasonable results.
