Audio quipment for shoot

I've been asked to do audio for a shoot with the following specs. Boxing ring. Two UFC athletes doing choreographed demos. One monster sized Sennheiser shotgun possibly mounted to camera #1 on a boom/dolly rig. Multiple (2 or 3) perimeter mics set up around the ring possibly on the deck itself (for SFX etc.).

I want to keep the SFX mics and the shotgun mic on separate tracks. I want to record direct to a notebook using Audition 1.5.

I would like a reliable/bulletproof solution so I can avoid getting my ass kicked by these UFC guys.

I'm looking at the following equipment;
1. MOTU 8PRE
2. Alesis MultiMix package
3. Suggestions from the pros on this forum

There will be some folying work I will do on-site and post which I can handle quite comfortably with my MD plugged into my beloved EV RE20 and some narration done in post in my studio.

I think I'm just driving myself a little crazy with worry that some of these firewire solutions have issues of just cutting out at a moment's notice. Thus my need for a bulletproof solution.

OK my friends and colleagues. Chime in and help me out here. Walk-through is this Tuesday. Shoot begins Oct 12th. I need an affordable tried a true solutions... fast.

Thanks

I've used the Alesis FW 16 mixer on several projects now and have had no problem, but I'm using it with Boom Recorder, not Audition. If you're really looking for bullet-proof, I wouldn't go with Audition or any Windows-based software. Boom Recorder is solid, and has been used now on big budget TV and Films.

Thanks Phil,

I looked up the specs on Boom Recorder and they are impressive. Unfortunately there is not a Windows based version. I can't justify buying a high-end MAC laptop for a 4/5 day shoot. I'm heavily vested in Windows because I build all my own systems (not laptops). With Windows Vista and all the bad press it's getting... the writing is on the wall.
That 8 Track Alesis is very affordable and is probably all I need for most of the shoots around here. If I can't get it working on my laptop, I might just borrow a friend's MAC for a few days. Who knows... he may never get it back ;-)

The pre-production walk-through is in 2 days. After that.. I make my choice on equipment purchasing. Any other guidance is much appreciated.
Thanks
