Audio problem

I videotaped interviews with the standard F5 setting in DVX100a. Now I'm capturing in Premiere 6.5 and the audio is turning out to have lots of jumps/skips. It sounds fine on tape and on RCA audio out to TV. This is the first project i'm editing with this camera. The interviews are meant for TV so there isn't really any use to go the 24p route.

I've re-captured the footage a couple of time and the problem of skipping stays the same. Does this have anything to do with 24p issue? From what I understand it doesn't, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. It is driving me crazy.

When you recapture the clips, do they skip in the exact same spot, or is it random? Are you logging dropped frames when you capture? Do the clips play in other programs, say windows media player w/out skips? hopefully this gives you something to work with.

there were no dropped frames and the skips were at random places. I figured it was a problem of the computer not recognizing the camera and Premiere 6.5 not supporting it. I moved my operation to my newer computer, bought Premiere Pro and an extra hard drive (200 gig baby). The clips are capturing fine which is super for me, i am moving the whole operation to the newer computer as from my experience, computer and compatibility problems are extremely time consuming and generally not worth it.

it could have just been memory issues on the other computer you first used. i would bet that if you actually exported any of that footage out and played back that file that the audio wouldnt skip.

ive experienced this before working on a "crappy" p3 600 and trying to edit, sometimes the audio would skip during capture or in the timeline, but it was actually fine. it was just really pushing the pc's limits.
