Audio - Musician with a guitar singing into a mic

Hi,

I will be filming a musician with a guitar who will be singing into a mic at a music venue. I have never filmed live music before and I need some advice.

I have the Panasonic 100A, Sennheiser shotgun, and Sennheiser wireless mic.

I have 2 questions. If I do not have access to a sound board and I just have the equipment I mentioned above, what in your opinion, would be the best way to capture the audio.

My second question is, if I do have access to a sound board and an XLR cable, how should I capture the audio on the second channel if I had the XLR from the sound board to the camera on the first channel. I have never used a connection to a sound board before and I will not have access to mixers, etc.

Any advice you could give me would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

Situation "no acces to sound board":

- wireless somewhere in front of speakers, not to close. Taped to a pole or something.. This on channel 1 of your camera
But if the speakers are high above.. Try to get there if possible.

- the shotgun mic attached to your camera on channel 2. It's not ideal but it's to have some "room".

Situaiton "acces to sound board"

- I guess you have a sennheiser G2 or G3 wireless ? Then you need a controllable output from the mixer. Mostly aux output (post-fader)/a 2nd main output/
If it comes in to loud, check sensitivity (transmitter) and AF output (receiver)
Also have a XLR adapter female to female and male to male and mini-screw-jack (the G2 thing) to XLR male and XLR female

Keep always recording... even when you move. When it's not started yet, make shots of people....drinking, falling...vomiting..... So you have something to cut between
Shots of bar, shots of people coming in....But during the performance...keep recording...
